About The Area
Kingscliff village is located just north of Salt and is a quaint coastal town that has undergone a recent revival. Restaurants and cafés abound and offer al fresco dining and a surprising choice of international cuisines. There are a number of shops and boutiques and every fortnight, local markets create a lively buzz.
Explore the coast by car and venture further inland to reveal more charming villages, each with their own unique personality. The lively town of Byron Bay is just a half hour south of Salt and is well-known for its relaxed, alternative lifestyle and fantastic beaches.
In stark contrast, the Gold Coast is just 30 minutes to the north and provides fast-paced action and activity with shopping, dining, night-life and theme parks.
If you want to avoid the crowds and get back to nature, just south of Salt is Cudgen Creek and its surrounding nature reserve. It’s the ideal place to drop a line or paddle a canoe. Alternatively, a more strenuous but equally rewarding experience lies at the top of the World Heritage-listed Mount Warning. Be the first to see the sun’s rays touch the Australian mainland and enjoy the spectacular 360 degree view.
